How to Foster a More Creative Environment in a Corporate Setting

Innovation is what provides growth and strength for corporations, and is becoming a worldwide market on its own. Innovation is the direct result of successful creative thought brought to life in your business. The more you can foster an environment for active participation in the creative process, the better and more consistent the results will be. Below are a few ideas to encourage opening better lines of communication for creativity and encouragement for every employee to get involved.

Understand Great Ideas Come from Many Directions
You never know where the next big creative idea will come from. There is no set team member or college degree that guarantees one person will always be the creative genius in a corporate setting. Encourage every person in every department to think creatively. Keep it an open environment where employees can share ideas, big or small.

Encourage Team Creativity Meetings
Set aside an hour a week for team brainstorming sessions. They can have a planned focus, or leave it up to members to choose the direction of the meetings. You may be surprised at how many creative ideas are gathered in these brief, but effective meetings. You won’t have as many holding back if everyone knows the purpose of the meetings is to offer their insights and ideas. It also helps promote teamwork and understanding that business innovation is not done by one single member.

Offer Bonuses and Recognition for Creativity
Offer bonus money or certificates to one or two people each year that contribute greatly to the creative atmosphere. It can be based on savings or increased profits from a particular idea, or simply a certificate of award for boosting creative energy levels. Share their accomplishments at a company gathering. A little positive reinforcement can do wonders for office moral.

Create a Corporate Newsletter or Blog to Keep Creativity Alive and Well
Many people find it difficult to keep up with innovations and creative ideas in their line of work due to the time constraints of the job. You can make it easier by putting current events and updated technology news in a corporate newsletter or blog format. It will be easy for employees to access and have all the needed information at their fingertips.

These are only a few ways that you can encourage creativity in the corporate world.
