5 Ways to Make Your Business Twitter Profile Stand Out

Twitter is one of the most effective social networks for small businesses, but with more than 328 million active users it can be hard for small businesses to stand out. However, if you follow these five steps you’ll be able to easily transform your business Twitter account into one that gets noticed and generates more leads and attention.

1. Look the part

First impressions count on social media. Find a high quality version of your logo and use it as your profile image. Then, create an attractive header image that meets Twitter’s 1500 x 421 pixel recommendation. If you’re not experienced in graphic design, consider outsourcing to someone who is, or use a free online tool like Canva or Photoshop.

2. Take part in a Twitter chat

Twitter chats are a great way of standing out and putting your brand in front of potential new followers and even customers and clients. As soon as you’ve found a chat you want to take part in, put it on your calendar and start tweeting at the scheduled times and answering questions asked during the chat. Remember to use the chosen hashtag and like, retweet, follow, and respond to other users who are taking part in the chat to further boost engagement.

3. Experiment with different content formats

Not every piece of content you post on Twitter has to be a blog post or a link to your site. Experiment with content formats to maximize engagement rates. Tweets with images get three times more engagement than those without, while video content, GIFs, polls, and live streams can all help boost your profile’s visibility.

4. Create a Moment

Twitter introduced its Moments tab last year as a way for users to find and engage with more content, whether that’s news stories or entertainment pieces. Create your own Moments to create conversation and get people talking about your business.

5. Pay for an ad

Twitter first announced its advertising program in 2010, but today it’s a great way to grow your profile and get more eyes on your content. Promoted tweets aren’t expensive – you can top up your account at about $65 (or £50) and get thousands of promoted tweet impressions. Experiment with your budget and audience segmentation, and you’ll quickly see new followers, engagements and clicks through to your website.

There you have it – five great ways to make your Twitter profile stand out. Whether you’re new to the social network or you just want to get more from it, good luck!
