With a roster of eco-friendly lifestyle clients, Paige Wolf Media & Public Relations has a wide variety of tailored communications services that adds a unique perspective to companies seeking a modern public relations strategy. Read on to find out more about Paige and her Philadelphia, PA-based B Corp.

How it all began: “Paige Wolf Media & Public Relations offers communications services to clients who contribute to a sustainable world and positive change. I work with clients in the green lifestyle and nonprofit industries to create national and local public relations campaigns incorporating traditional media, online and social media, blogger outreach, and direct consumer marketing. The firm is the first certified B Corporation public relations company in the Philadelphia area, meeting comprehensive and transparent social and environmental standards.

When I started my business in 2002, at only 23 years old, sustainability and changing the world were the last things on my mind. I worked with restaurants, nightclubs, fashion designers – pretty much any client I thought would make a successful PR pitch. But as my personal values evolved, I made an effort to transition my business to be more in line with my lifestyle. By 2008 I had almost entirely changed the make-up of my client base to green-focused businesses, nonprofit organizations, and mission-driven community projects.”

Why I love my B Corp clients: “I was certified as a B Corp in 2009. While my business is primarily one woman with a laptop, I had to show tangible proof that everything I purchased and provided was in line with very specific standards. I’ve actually been ‘audited’ twice by B Corp, which is a good exercise in business practice reflection. I love working with B Corp clients because I know they are being held to those same standards and being fully transparent about their business practices.”

Writing my first book changed everything: “My business is actually broader than the public relations aspect – there is the media piece, which includes my writing, blogging, and even a bit of influencer work. My biggest professional success was having the opportunity to publish my first book, Spit That Out: The Overly Informed Parent’s Guide to Raising Healthy Kids in the Age of Environmental Guilt. It allowed me to share ideas, resources, and important information about how everyone can make small but impactful changes and be more conscientious without going insane. I’m currently working on another book about everyday activism, and hope that project will allow me to reach an even broader audience.”

How we’re able to “B The Change” with social media: “For better or worse, I am a big social media junkie. But I try to use my platform for good – promoting positive ideas and events, sharing advice, and answering people’s questions about green and healthy living and everyday activism. I certainly don’t always have the answers, but I am pretty good at finding them!”

If you want to become a B Corp…  “Always be ready to evolve. You have to be open to change in this rapidly changing world. What worked yesterday may not work tomorrow. Try not to be too stuck in your ways.”

A bright future for B Corporations: “ I think as we see growing consumer demand for transparency, the B Corp model of people, planet, profit will become much more commonplace. I also think certifications like B Corp will remain necessary for consumers to know that companies are not making false promises about their business practices.”
