When Should Businesses File An Annual Report?

Do you know when to file an annual report? The start of the year is a good time for LLCs and corporations to review corporate compliance. Small businesses can stay in compliance with state regulations when they file an annual report.

What Is An Annual Report?

An annual report is sometimes known as an informational report. It is a document which records any changes made within the business throughout the year. As you file an annual report, you may note any changes to the following aspects of your business:

  • Names and addresses of officers, directors, and members of the business.
  • Current business address.
  • Name and/or address of the business’ registered agent.
  • If there have been changes in any business activities.

Where do I submit my annual report? You will submit this report to the Secretary of State in the state where your business is incorporated. Some of the requirements for materials which go into an annual report will vary depending on the state as well.
